hat could better represent all that has been lost in this culture of social distancing than a loving embrace at the arrivals gate of an airport? A place where the interconnections of a global culture are celebrated, not feared.

This is the first scene of Love Actually, a moment that stood in moving defiance of post-9/11 anxieties in 2003. Seen today, it’s a film that precisely articulates everything we are all desperate to get back, an antidote to isolation.

This Christmas, more than any holiday season since it’s premiere, is the perfect time to celebrate the spirit of Love Actually, sharing true stories of love & togetherness when we need it most.

he image you see here was taken from For The Record’s Love Actually Live, a record-breaking holiday hit, three years running in Los Angeles.

To tell the story, the film and live action seamlessly intertwine throughout the London setting. Iconic scenes on screen share the stage with an all-star cast of singers and 15-piece orchestra as they reimagine the film’s hit soundtrack including “Christmas is All Around”, “Trouble With Love", & Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now”.

In TO ME YOU ARE PERFECT, the experience moves out of the theater and into the homes of families & friends around the world. The musical performances remain, but scenes from the film are replaced with real stories of love during the holidays that parallel the movie’s storylines & themes.

The last frame of Love Actually, as so many remember,

is filled with a collage of real reunions at Heathrow Airport.

What if we zoomed into one of those tiny squares and found your story?

o you have a special memory that is somehow tied to the film?

Or perhaps you've heard a story that perfectly parallels one of the stories within Love Actually:

id you and your partner have a totally awkward first meeting? Or perhaps the setting of that first meeting was extremely unconventional?

A FEW MORE EXAMPLES...

In the film, the Prime Minister falls in love with a woman on his staff. Was your relationship ever complicated by workplace politics?

“I’m in love with my best friend’s wife” is a story as old as marriage, but somehow that never prevents us from falling into the same scandalous trap. Nor does it stop us from wanting to hear all the juicy details.

In the film, a stepfather loses his wife and is left to take care of her son on his own. In life, there are many steps to becoming a good parent that don’t include biology. But each require love.

officeaffairs

One of the most heartbreaking musical moments in a film of all time, Joni Mitchell’s “BOTH SIDES NOW” is used to devastating effect. So many fans of the film have also used the song to help them cope with betrayal, and to learn to forgive or move on. If your relationship survived an affair, tells us how.
